I love earrings in all shapes and sizes but... I am always drawn to dangly chandelier style earrings. Perhaps, subconsciously I know that this is the style of earrings that suits my face shape.
In the hopes of being helpful on your search for your next perfect earrings or to help those looking to gift earrings to a special person; I have put together this quick guide on which earrings complement each face shape the best.
Please let me know in the comments if you enjoyed this guide or found it helpful and don't forget to let me know: Which earrings style is your favorite!
Oval shaped faces are best complemented by earrings such as wide chandeliers, earrings that widen at the lower part, teardrop shaped earrings and large studs are my recommendations.
Diamond shaped faces usually have high cheekbones, eyes are in line with the widest part of the face and the forehead mirrors the chin's width. Earrings that are wider at the bottom or linear dangles are ideal as they balance the facial features the best.
Square shaped faces do not narrow much from the cheekbones to the forehead or to the jawline. Earrings with rounded edges tend to complement and soften the face's natural angles.
Heart shaped faces feature a wider forehead than the cheekbones and a sharper chin. Dangles, chandeliers and teardrop earrings will help balance out the shape of the face.
Round shaped are best complemented by long earrings (ideally earrings that dangle lower than the chin), that help create an illusion of length.

These crystals are very clear and sport a natural faceting to boot!
Herkimer Diamonds get their name from the site where they have been discovered which is Herkimer County, New York. Other double-point quartz crystals can be found throughout the world but only those mined in Herkimer County, NY can be given the name "Herkimer diamond".
An awesome fact is how these crystals came to be formed: Their journey to become what they are now started around 495 million years ago... at the bottom of a shallow sea. Waxy organic material, quartz sand and large masses of pyrite encased by a rock formation made out of dolomite and calcite were slowly buried, leading to temperatures rising within it. The rise in temperature combined with cavities formed within the rock lead to these quartz being formed. The very slow process of the formation of the crystals aided in giving them amazing clarity.
]]>The beauty behind this art is that it also goes hand in hand with the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi which embraces the flaws and imperfections as a way to honor and appreciate nature’s beauty.
]]>Orange, yellow, brown, pink, with red sapphires being the exception. Red sapphires have been classified as a different named stone: Ruby.
Rubies, just like sapphires have same mineral composition but as it tends to happen in the gem world, because of the intensity of the color,
they are a class all on their own.
With the exception of blue sapphires, padparadsha and alexandrine or alexandrite sapphire (not to be be confused with the June's birthstone: alexandrite - same names but different mineral origins), all other sapphires are usually preceded by the color of the stone: I.e. yellow sapphire or green sapphire. As a group, colors other than the "royal" blue are very often referred to as "fancy sapphires".

As March comes to an end,
I would like to leave you with some cool tidbits on aquamarine:Aquamarine is the birthstone for the month of March. The name aquamarine comes from the latin word for seawater.
Aquamarine stones were believed to be the treasures of mermaids and were used by sailors as a talisman of good luck, fearlessness and protection!
This birthstone was also believed to bring happiness in marriage!
Speaking about marriage, this stone is also given as a present to celebrate the 19th wedding anniversary.
Aquamarine is found in various places of the world, with the best quality aquamarines mined in Brazil and Pakistan.

It is okay to go through "dry spells" where nothing seems to inspire a spark of creativity. The genius in you might be taking a break. Do not despair or get depressed over it. Be open and expectant to welcome it back, because it will return.
]]>When I became pregnant with my first child, I was bursting at the seams with creativity and ideas. I had quit my job before getting pregnant and was dedicated full time to my business… I also had time to work on myself, take those long 4 mile walks to the doctor's office once a week without many worries. That is, until my son was born. It was all good at first. I managed to prepare and go through a wholesale trade event 8 weeks after he was born. The first few months, it was and adjustment period, but I managed.
Five months into this "new mom" thing, I was pregnant again with my daughter. Everything seem to halt. First trimester came and went and what I hoped was part of the initial first few months of pregnancy turned into a full 10 months of low energy, low motivation, lack of inspiration and lack of course, of creativity. I was depressed that I could not feel any type of urge to create.
It took over a year for my mind to reset. Once again, inspiration was everywhere. I had so many ideas and so much I wanted to make, I would work on the floor to keep my newborn and very clingy daughter happy and still do what I love. I realized, I had spent so much time wallowing on my lack of enthusiasm that I forgot to be patient and open for the creative genius to come back to me.
It is okay to go through "dry spells" where nothing seems to inspire a spark of creativity. The genius in you might be taking a break. It is hard to do when you are in the creative business life, but try to not despair or get depressed over it. Be open and expectant to welcome it back, because it will return.

I confess, it is in conflict with my tendency to be messy, but knowing that having beauty around me makes me a happier person, helps me keep my space organized and looking good. It is also helping me get over my lack of outdoor time. I look forward to long walks in the park, and it doesn't hurt that spring is finally here and everything is starting to get lush with life!

According to Jewelry Notes, here are some tips on how to easily care for Aquamarine:
The easiest method of care for aquamarines is to wash them in warm, soapy water:
After cleaning the stone, the next part you will clean is the metal. Depending on the type of metal used, there are different ways to do so.
If your aquamarine is set in silver, you will want to dry the jewelry well.
Then you will use a soft jeweler’s cloth and buff out any tarnish on the silver. The cloth will not harm the gemstone, so it’s a great method to use.
If your aquamarine is set in gold, you can continue the same cleaning method you used on the gem.
You can soak the jewelry in warm, soapy water and then clean it with a soft toothbrush. After you rinse off the item with water, buff it with a soft cloth and it will be back to new.
Other metals such as tungsten and stainless steel also have similar care tips to gold.
You can wash them in warm soapy water and then buff them lightly with a soft cloth. This will help to keep the surfaces clean and reduce the visibility of scratches.
I am in the process of going through my descriptions and changing it all to the “correct terminology”. I am sorry to all of my dear clients who I have sold the beautiful variety of green quartz as green amethyst. It always seemed so cool, to have this option for the February birthstone: “Instead of purple go with this lovely pastel green.” I hope you still enjoyed the gem, it is one of my favorites (OK OK! They are ALL my favorites! 😍).
I found out this tidbit of information earlier this month while doing some research on Amethyst, since it is the February birthstone!
On that note, did you know that the name (amethyst) comes from the Greek ἀμέθυστος amethystos from ἀ- a-, "not" and μεθύσκω methysko / μεθύω methyo, "intoxicate", a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication.
It is one of several forms of quartz. Amethyst is a semiprecious stone and is the traditional birthstone for February. (Wikipedia)
It is a rare stone in nature; artificially produced prasiolite is heat treated amethyst. Most amethyst will turn yellow or orange when heated producing citrine. But some amethyst will turn green when treated. Currently, almost all prasiolite on the market results from a combination of heat treatment and ionizing radiation. (Wikipedia)
Tell us, what is your favorite shade of purple amethyst?
]]>To care for your Amethyst jewelry, use warm water, mild soap, a soft bristle brush (old toothbrush). Towel and air dry. Steam cleaning is not recommended and it should not be subjected to heat. Ultrasonic cleaning can be used unless the stone is dyed or fractured.
Amethyst can also be damaged by solutions containing hydrofluoric acid, ammonium fluoride, and alkaline solutions.
